Samsung Galaxy S receives Android 2.2 update

After much promises and delays, Android 2.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S is finally here.

I updated my phone through Kies just now.

First impressions:

  • The update preserved all installed applications and configured accounts, as well as all application data (including the call log and SMS history).
  • Random “hiccups”, where the phone randomly froze for 1-3 seconds, are now fixed.
  • They got rid of their exceptionally clumsy custom lock screen and reverted back to basic Android design.
  • Samsung now bundles turn-by-turn navigation software from Navifon. I only had a quick look, so far looks reallyt good.
